The result is advisory and not a binding BAZG tariff ruling.

How it works

  1. Describe the product. Type what you're importing or exporting in any language — material, use and form all help the classification.
  2. Answer one question if asked. For ambiguous goods the engine asks a single clarifying question to narrow down the heading.
  3. Get the number by email. We email the full 8-digit Swiss tariff number, the official description, alternatives and any permit notes.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Swiss customs tariff number?

It's the 8-digit code (Tarifnummer) that classifies a product in the Swiss customs tariff (Tares). The first 6 digits follow the international Harmonized System (HS); Switzerland adds 2 digits. The number determines duty rates, VAT and any permits.

How is it different from an HS code?

The HS code is the international 6-digit heading. The Swiss tariff number extends it to 8 digits with national subheadings, so it is more specific than a plain HS code.

Is this classification binding?

No. It's an advisory result to speed up your work, not a binding tariff ruling (verbindliche Tarifauskunft) from the BAZG. For a binding decision, request one from the customs authority.

Which languages can I use?

Any. You can describe the product in German, English, French, Italian or another language — the engine understands the description and returns the official German description along with your result.

Is it free?

Yes. The tariff-number check is free. Zolli's product files Swiss Passar customs declarations autonomously from your ERP data — book a demo to see it.
